The SR2

After three years of investment, development, design and manufacture, Roadrunner Racing are proud to introduce the SR2 kitcar. Aimed at the Lotus Seven market the SR2 is intended for the client who wants something special, at an affordable price.

This handbuilt sports kitcar is available either as a kit for the self build enthusiast or as a factory finished vehicle for road and track.

The required parts for the SR2 kitcar are listed on these pages: Starter Kit, Stage 1 Kit, Stage 2 kit.  We have also put together some more information on the MX5 donor car, and some different engine options.

The SR2 kitcar chassis has been developed using the latest computer aided design (CAD) technology to ensure precision engineered build quality and perfect performance. The round tube triangulated design of the chassis ensures rigidity and lightness when this is combined with Mazda MX5 running gear the result is a car with a kerb weight of just 560 kilograms boasting a very impressive power to weight ratio.

The SR2’s design incorporates infinitely adjustable rose joint suspension, stainless steel camber adjusters and suspension geometry that delivers zero bump-steer, this race car technology ensures ultimate track and road performance. The standard chassis kit includes high specification aluminium dampers and coil over springs emphasising the quality that is present throughout this sports car.

The concept behind the SR2 kitcar was to build a high performance car without compromise and without the usual costs associated with achieving these standards. Roadrunner Racing has been successful in achieving these goals by careful consideration to all elements of the design. The chassis for example is made up of individually numbered laser cut tubes and profiles, each part of which is easily identifiable this attention to detail reduces build time and with very tight tolerances, quality is always assured.

The choice of donor car takes the concept even further with extensive production runs the small lightweight Mazda MX5 is both inexpensive and readily available with the bonus of a large number of engine options in the production run. The flexibility within the chassis design allows for an even wider choice of engines for those who want something different motorbike engines through to V8’s can all be accommodated for those who have more specific requirements

The detail in the chassis is equally matched with the quality of the fibreglass body panels. The comprehensive body kit is available in a large number of gel coated colours with a number of panels available with a carbon fibre finish or embellishment. The panels on the SR2 have been designed to fit together with very tight gap tolerances, the one piece bonnet and nose cone closes onto locating lugs so that a factory fit is always guaranteed. The SR2 also features a three piece colour coded boot lid, unique diffuser, choice of dashboard, stylish wind deflector and carbon fibre transmission tunnel cover.

Roadrunner Racing feel that the SR2 kitcar will speak for itself in terms of quality and value for money so if you are looking at purchasing a Lotus Seven style sports car either in kit form or as a factory built vehicle then give us a call, you won’t be disappointed.

We have a collection of photographs in our photo gallery of the SR2, and video's in our video gallery.
